aftercare

aftercare.png

Please note that the results and lasting of your new tattoo will greatly depend on your lifestyle, how much sun exposure and how you take care of your skin during the healing process and further. Every client's healing process will respond differently, both in the length of time it takes to heal, and the number of sessions it will require in order to achieve the desired results, as well as colour retention. This information acts as a guideline only as we cannot guarantee your results.

What to expect after the procedure:

Following after the procedure, you may experience minimal discomfort on the treated area and may have a similar sensation as a sunburn, with swelling and redness. Please note that symptoms will subside within 24 to 48 hours.

During the first week, the tattooed area will initially appear to be darker and bolder in colour and more sharply defined than the final result as your skin will begin to scab as part of the healing process.

There should be minimal scabbing or flaking of the skin, which is normal throughout the first few weeks of the healing period. In order to avoid loss of pigmentation, we highly advise that you DO NOT itch or remove the scabs. Let them naturally fall off on their own. Please trust the process!

Any adjustments and/ or touch-ups can be made only after the healing period is complete (a minimum of 4 weeks).

During the healing process, please AVOID the following:

  • Any application of makeup on the tattooed area for 2 weeks

  • Direct use of water on the tattoo and the use of cleansers (except lip blush), soaps and heavy creams. A cleaning cloth or oil-free makeup wipe can be used to wash around the areas.

  • The use of Vaseline, Neosporin and any other petroleum based products

  • Activities that will cause sweating for 10 days such as exercising, etc.

  • Saunas, swimming pools, hot tubs or other bodies of water for 14 days

  • Exposure to the sun and tanning beds, as it can cause fading and discolouration of the pigment. Apply sunscreen (30 SPF or greater) on the treated area once it is completely healed.

  • Laser light therapy, as it can darken/lighten or distort the pigment

  • Massages, facials or intensive skin treatments as it may disrupt the healing process

  • Any exfoliation products, retinol acids or AHA’s on the area for 30 days after the appointment to avoid premature fading

How to care for your new tattoo:

BROWS (NANO, COMBO AND MICROBLADING, 4-6 WEEKS)

To achieve ideal results, most clients may require at least two sessions. The first session is to build shape and gain symmetry and the second session is to perfect the brows and add density. Nano brows tend to heal faster than combo or microbladed brows, with minimal bleeding/scabbing.

  • Day 1: We will provide you with an aftercare kit, including wipes and a barrier ointment. Gently wipe your eyebrow tattoo with the provided distilled wipes every 2 - 3 hours after your appointment. Do not apply the barrier ointment until the second day. We will provide you with an eyebrow shield to assist you to not get water on your brows.

  • Day 2-14: Gently pat your brows 2 to 3 times a day with a damp cotton pad and apply a thin layer of the provided ointment once in the morning and once at night (amount applied should not exceed the size of a grain of rice). Do not excessively apply the ointment as over-hydration of the skin may cause problems with the retention of the pigment.

POST HEALING

  • Eyebrow tattoos normally last 1 to 2.5 years depending on lifestyle, skin type and client's maintenance of aftercare. Yearly touch-ups are recommended to maintain your results.

  • Do not do laser your brow area (IPL) as some lasers may change the colour of the ink and cause discolouration.

LIP BLUSH (7-10 DAYS)

In the first few days, the colour of your lip tattoo will appear vibrant, but please note that it will gradually fade about 40 to 60 percent depending on your natural lip color.

  • Day 1-5: There will be a moderate amount of swelling, flaking and bruising. Apply a cold compress to help reduce swelling for up to 15 minutes at a time.

  • Day 4-7: Expect your lips to scab during this period. Please remember not to pick at them as tempting as it will be! Avoiding irritants such as spicy foods may also help the healing process and alleviate any irritations.

  • Day 7-10: A lip balm will be provided in your aftercare kit. Use the lip balm to help moisturize lips.

POST HEALING

  • Lip blush tattoos typically last 1-3 years. In order to maintain the desired look, touch-ups may be required.

  • Use lip balm or gloss with SPF to assist protecting the lip colour
